Nyny is a song by the Spanish producer and disc jockey ALEX25. It was released worldwide on November 6, 2020, and is included on the studio album Stay Positive as the third of six songs on it.
TOPIC AND TITLE
NYNY is about a New York City-inspired song about enjoying life and living in the moment. Although technically NYNY is a song that is not about New York, it is clearly inspired by this place and contains sound references in the song that confirm it. Specifically, there are three characteristic sounds of New York City that are included in the recording, which are: the sound of a car horn, the sound of a person whistling, and the ambient sound of the street with sirens in the background.
The title of the song NYNY is an acronym formed by the initials of the words "New York, New York", which is the direction in which the city is located.
COMPOSITION AND INSPIRATION
Although NYNY initially intended to be a song dedicated to New York City, ALEX25 finally decided to keep it as a reference and the inspiration that the city generates for many people.
The composition contains three sounds that make reference to the city of New York and that have been used in the film industry in a recurrent way to present the reality of this city. In the first place, there is the sound of a person's whistle that sounds in the song at the beginning of the choruses and and makes reference to the continuous traffic of taxis that the city has and this way of calling them to stop and pick up the passengers. In second place is the sound of a car horn that closes the choruses and that makes reference to the intense traffic that New York City has, as well as traffic delays and the accelerated atmosphere of a city like this. Finally, in the bridge of the song, there is the ambient sound of a city with sirens in the background, which refers to the frequent traffic of emergency vehicles that occurs in such a populated city.
All these references are still taken from the image that is shown through movies, television, and videos on the Internet that show what it is like to live in a city like this.
Belonging to the Progressive House genre, the song has a 4 by 4 measure and is played at a tempo of 128 beats per minute. It is composed in the key A Major and the main singer's tonal register ranges from E2 to A3
LYRICS
I need to live my life
Why? Should not speak my mind
I, I wanna live my life
Why? Why? Should not speak my mind
I need to live my life
Why? Should not speak my mind
I, I wanna live my life
Why? Why? Should not speak my mind
I need to be bored or free
What a timeless right
Can’t delay, only play
What a feeling high
I, I wanna live my life
Why? Should not speak my mind
Heh, heh, hey
ouh yeah, hey, heh yeah
Heh, heh, hey
ouh yeah, hey, heh yeah
I need to live my life
Why? Should not speak my mind
I, I wanna live my life
Why? Why? Should not speak my mind
I need to be bored or free
What a timeless right
Can’t delay, only play
What a feeling high
I, I wanna live my life
Why? Should not speak my mind
